Biography
I spent the first 23 years of my life in Chicago, Illinois, a big, windy city. I have spent the rest of my life in the west: Colorado, Nevada, California, and Alaska, which has definitely been an improvement on the weather. I studied Spanish at Fort Lewis College and then completed my degree, majoring in English, at the University of Colorado in Boulder in 1991. Our family was elated to be able to return to Durango in 1992. I received my Teaching Certificate from Fort Lewis. I have held several positions at Durango High School: study hall supervisor, Spanish and English teacher, and resource teacher. I am fortunate to continue working in education but in a more relaxed atmosphere. The favorite part of my job is helping students find a solution to an academic challenge. Usually tutoring is part of the solution. Any activity that can bring me to the outdoors I welcome: biking, hiking, running, horseback riding, gardening, and skiing. My goal is to enter one running race per year.
Last year I ran the Fem 10, an all women’s race. I enjoy doing these activities with my husband; my son,
and my daughter.
